The U11 Rep Team landed in Melbourne on Saturday 6 February after spending 9 glorious days in New Zealand.  It was the first time these boys had traveled overseas to play football.

The trip started in Wellington where the boys played a tournament the day after they arrived in New Zealand, they took on regional representative teams that provided tough opposition and tested the boys on every occasion.

The boys, their parents and coaching staff made their way across the North Island, Auckland bound.  Along the way they stopped at some of New Zealand's best tourists spots such as Napier, Rotoura and Hamilton.

It was 9 days jam packed with action with a lot of football for the boys to play along with some breathtaking sightseeing and plenty of fun activities to enjoy.

Regional representative teams from all the different places the team visited proved to be challenging opposition for the team; all teams were very talented and well organised.  The AFS Rep Teamput on some great performances and represented the AFS gallantly.

The supporters were fantastic by always encouraging the team and helping out the coaching staff to ensure the boys had everything they needed to perform their best at the games.

A lot of these boys and their families hardly knew each other prior to the tour, however good friendships have now been formed.  From the moment the players were selected to tour, this group ofparents worked really hard to provide an overall great experience to theplayers.

Tyler Seabrook, the only player from Shepparton has written a diary entry to share his experiences on the trip.  It is agreat read and can be downloaded here.  Tyler described the trip using these words "This trip is one of the best yhings I've ever done"

Alex Bevacqua from Central U11's AFS teamreceived some media attention by having an article published on his council’s local paper.  Click here to view the article

All the players and families got along brilliantly and no doubt long lasting friendships have been formed.

Overall it was a great experience for the players and their families, this was the 8th AFS Rep Team to successfully complete their respective tour.  Previous AFS squads have traveled to Singapore, USA, Malaysia and Brazil. There are also squads currently preparing for a European tour to England and Spain that will take place in March this year; there will also be teams travelingto Disney World in July.

More exciting tours will be prepared for the AFS Rep Teams travelingin 2011.
