Following solid performances for the Australian Football Skool at the International Challenge Cup in Singapore, Simon Zappia was recently selected to trial for selection in the VIS soccer program in Melbourne.
Joining 30 other hopefuls representing the best Under 15 players in Victoria, Simon was put through his paces by VIS Head Coach Ian Greener under the eyes of selectors looking to add to the VIS youth elite who participate in the Victorian Premier League Under 23 Competition and recently returned from a highly successful tour of the UK. The highlight of the process for Simon was the opportunity to train with the current VIS players in a training session with only select players participating in what was an eye opening experience to the work ethic and requirements at this level. Simon will now be monitored through the Vic Country Under 15 Squad at the National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour in September this year to impress selectors to offer him a place in the program and join former Mildura local Jake Van Der Mey in the VIS program.
